Lois and I were invited to dine at the Royal China restaurant in Bayswater. We headed there after working up quite an appetite taking outfit photographs in Hyde Park.

We were greeted by warm and friendly staff, we made our way trough the dining room and were seated at the centre of the restaurant, which was surprisingly jam packed on a Thursday afternoon – it’s always a good sign that great food is in store!

We were browsing the menu and placed our drinks order. The selection of different dishes they have on offer makes it so hard to choose, so in the end we both opted for two main courses each – greedy I know! Lois and I just couldn’t narrow it down and thought it would be fun to taste each other’s favourite dishes. I went with sweet and sour chicken, an old favourite and takes me back to my teenage years, getting a cheeky Chinese takeaway’s on a Friday evening with my momma, such good memories! My second choice was chicken with broccoli and vegetables, which is my go to choice when ever I have a takeaway. Wow! How times have changed from the retro ever so sweet, to a more sophisticated tangy sweet and sour!

Lois was in the mood for lemon chicken (I had a taste and let me tell you, it was crispy and good!) she also chose a portion of shredded beef, accompanied with shared bowls of crispy noodles and egg fried rice. It was all flavoursome and truly delicious.

It was good to catch up, unwind and munch together, service was great and we had plenty of time to gossip about our week, mine hectic but satisfying, each of us had achieved in different ways.  It was great fun  planning our Paris trip.  I must say it was great to slow things down and indulge in fresh and tasty food whilst soaking up the great ambience.

We  had such a ‘fun and filling’ evening, I would highly recommend popping over to Bayswater for a visit to the Royal China, it would suit a date night, after work or pre cinema trip for anyone looking for amazingly fresh and authentic Chines food, warm and friendly staff and a great atmospheric restaurant.
Food, friendship and future planning, what more could you want?
